LOW SEASON (JANUARY - MARCH)

An interesting trip that combines a visit to the Nasca Lines, which represent some sort of vast astronomical pre-Inca calendar, followed by a visit to Machu Picchu , the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Cusco as well as the ancient capital of the Inca Empire.

Day 1 : LIMA PICK UP
Pick up upon arrival and overnight at Carmel Hotel or similar located in Miraflores, Lima.

Day 2 : LIMA CITY TOUR AND GOLD MUSEUM
In the morning, we will take the Lima city tour (half day). You will be picked up from your hotel at 10 a.m. The city tour begins with a visit to the Plaza de Armas, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Running along two sides are arcades with shops: Portal de Escribanos and Portal de Botoneros. In the center of the Plaza is a bronze fountain dating back to 1560. Located in the Plaza is the Cathedral, note the splendidly carved stalls, the silver covered altars surrounded by fine woodwork, mosaic covered walls bearing the coats of arms of Lima and Pizarro. Next to the Cathedral is the Archbishop's Palace. Then, you'll visit the Monastery of San Francisco, This is famous for the Sivillian tilework and paneled ceiling in the cloisters. The catacombs under the church and part of the monastery are well worth seeing, You'll visit the old colonial streets in the center of the city, and the modern Lima with the district of San Isidro and Miraflores. Then you will visit the Peruvian Gold Museum. This excellent private collection includes pre-Columbian gold, silver and bronze, ceramics, weavings, mummies, etc. Upstairs, there is a remarkable arms collections with an impressive exhibition from Spanish colonial times. Overnight at Carmel Hotel or similar. (B,L)

Day 3 : NASCA LINES
You will be picked up from your Hotel in Lima at 6:00 am, we will provide a driver and a minivan, the ride will take around 6 hours each way. On the way we will visit the Museum of the site, the Maria Reiche tomb. Then, we will stop at the over view of Nazca. Cut into the stony desert are large number of lines, not only parallels and geometrical figures, but also designs such as a dog, an enormous monkey, a bird with a wing span of over 100 meters, a spider and a tree. These lines, that represent some sort of vast astronomical pre-Inca calendar, are best seen from the air. We will take a half hour flight above the Lines (airfare included). After the flight, we will take some time to rest and we will have lunch before returning to Lima. Upon arrival, we will transfer to the Carmel Hotel or similar and stay at the hotel overnight. (B;L)

Day 4 : CUSCO
Transfer to the airport where we'll take the flight to Cusco (airfare not included). Upon arrival, we will transfer to the Orquidea Real Hostal. At 13:30 p.m. aprox., we will take a city tour of Cusco. This tour includes the major sites of historical interest in Cusco, such as the famous Inca fort at Sacsahuaman, and the Temple of the Sun. Also included in this is a tourist card, giving you access to all the sites in the Cusco area as a whole (i.e., including outside of the City itself) This tour finishes at 18:00 and we will stay overnight at the Orquidea Real or similar. Day 5: SACRED VALLEY TOUR (TUESDAY, THURSDAY AND SUNDAY)
At 8:30 a.m. we will depart for the Sacred Valley tour, that includes: Bus service to the market of Pisaq, the ruins of Ollantaytambo, and the market at Chinchero. There is an English speaking guide, and lunch in a typical restaurant in Urubamba. Of course, throughout this trip you will have magnificent views of the high Peruvian Andes. At 18:00 hrs you arrive back at the Orquidea Real Hostal or similar. ( B,L )

Day 6 INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU (2 days 1 night)
You will be picked up from your hotel around 6 am. Transfer from the hotel to train station where you will take the train to Km. 104, arriving at approx. 10:30 am, from there we will start the hike. After about 3 hours, we will arrive at Wiñaywayna (2700m), walking 8 km. At Wiñaywayna, we will explore the extensive Inca ruins, undoubtely the most spectacular ruins of the whole Inca Trail. In the afternoon we go back on the trek. We'll arrive at the Inti Punku (the Sun Gate) with beautiful views of Machu Picchu and then to Aguas Calientes where we will stay overnight at the Presidente Hostal (or similar). (B,Box-lunch)

Day 7 MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
After breakfast we will arrive at Machu Picchu ruins (2400 m. - 8000 ft. altitude). Guided tour of the ruins for approximately 2 hours followed by some time at leisure, lunch provided at Machu Picchu Santuary Lodge. In the afternoon we will take the train back to Cusco . Overnight at Orquidea Real Hostal or similar. (B, L)

NOTE You will need to leave your luggage in the Cusco hotel, all the hotels in Cusco provide a secure luggage deposit. Put any valuables in their safe.

* Participants need to be in good physical health and condition to be able to enjoy the Inka Trail. The trekking will be difficult if you have not exercised regularly before your trip. To fully enjoy an Inka Trail adventure, we advise passengers to get into an exercise program for their own safety and enjoyment. If a passenger suffers from any medical condition, we advise him/her to consult a physician about joining an Inka Trail Expedition.

DAY 8 TRANSFER TO LIMA
Transfer to the airport where we'll take the morning flight back to Lima (airfare not included) (B)
