LOW SEASON (JANUARY - MARCH)

An exciting package that combines the Canopy Walkway experience with a visit to Cusco and Machu Picchu. The Canopy Walkway is a suspended bridge spanning over 500 meters, connected by tree platforms and reaching a height of over 37 meters above the ground. Here there is time to observe a part of the rainforest rarely seen by man but accessible without any type of climbing skill or equipment.

Departures: THURSDAYS

Day 1: Thursday - LIMA
You will be picked up upon arrival and transfer to Carmel Hotel or similar . Overnight. (no meals)

Day 2: Friday - IQUITOS
You will transfer to the airport where you'll have the flight connection to Iquitos (Airfare not included). Reception at the airport or hotel and transfer to the Explorama dock. Twenty-five mile journey down the Amazon River to Ceiba Tops where your Amazon adventure begins. Afternoon transfer by boat to the Mazan trail where you pass across a land bridge which marks the shortest distance between the Amazon and Napo Rivers. Upon arrival at the Napo River, your next launch will transfer you down the river to the 250,000 acre Amazon Rainforest Reserve and ExplorNapo Lodge. Afternoon hike through primary, terra firme, non-flooding rainforest including a visit to the medicinal plant garden near the Camp. Evening excursion by open boat along the Sucusari Stream in search of caiman and to enjoy the night sounds and stars of the Southern sky.

Day 3: Saturday - CANOPY WALKWAY
Early morning birding excursion. Morning hike to the Canopy Walkway, a suspended bridge spanning over 500 meters (1/3 of a mile), connected by tree platforms and reaching a height of over 35 meters (115 feet) above the ground. Here there is time to observe a part of the rainforest rarely seen by man but accessible without any type of climbing skill or equipment. Afternoon boating excursion along one of the Napo tributaries spotting for sloth, birding and having a try at fishing for piranha.

Day 4: Sunday - IQUITOS
Early morning birding by boat or foot. Morning excursion to visit some of the local river people called "ribereños" whose houses and schools are seen along the river. They will be pleased to show you their simple way of life dominated by the movements of the mighty rivers that surround them. Early lunch and followed by your return trip to civilization by boat on the Amazon and Napo rivers back to Iquitos. Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight back to Lima (airfare not included). You will stay overnight at Carmel Hotel or similar. (B, L).

NOTE: Due to the everchanging nature of the rainforest, day-by-day activities are subject to change due to weather, trail or river conditions. Bring rain gear and sunscreen as for all Explorama Rainforest programs.

Day 5: Monday - CUSCO
Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight to Cusco (airfare not included). Upon arrival reception at airport of Cusco and lodge at Orquidea Real Hostel or similar. In the afternoon: Cusco City Tour from 1:30 p.m to 6:00 pm. This tour includes the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and the Cathedral. The tour moves along the Circunvalacion Road up to famous fortress of Sacsahuaman, then to Q'enqo, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay. This tour includes a bilingual guide. Include the Tourist ticket valid for the entrance to many museums and ruins as well. Lodging at Orquidea Real or similar. (B).

Day 6: Tuesday - SACRED VALLEY TOUR
You will leave at 8:30 a.m. for an excursion to the Sacred Valley of Incas. Services included: Bus service to the market of Pisaq, Ruins of Ollantaytambo, and the Chinchero's market. English and Spanish speaking guide. Lunch in a typical restaurant in Urubamba. Return to Cusco at 6:00 pm. Lodging at Orquidea Real or similar . (B,L)


Day 7: Wednesday - MACHU PICCHU
Breakfast. Hr.5:30 am departure to Machu Picchu. Services included: Bus to railway station and back, round trip first class train ticket (Vistadome) Cusco/Aguas Calientes/Cusco, bus to ruins and back, box-lunch, complete Ruin's tour with an English and Spanish speaking guide. Overnight at Presidente Hostal or similar in Aguas Calientes. (B+ Box Lunch) * Optional: For lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge instead of box-lunch, add $35.00 to the tour price.

Day 8: Thursday - MACHU PICCHU
Morning at leisure in Machu Picchu and at 3:30 pm you will take the train back to Cusco where you will arrive around 7:25pm. Overnight at Orquidea Real Hostal or similar . (B)

Day 9: Friday - TRANSFER OUT
Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight back to Lima (airfare not included) and end of our services. (B)
