Departures: THURSDAYS
Day 1: Thursday - LIMA
You will be picked up upon arrival and transfer to the selected
hotel. Overnight. (no meals)
Day 2: Friday - IQUITOS
You will transfer to the airport where you'll have the flight
connection to Iquitos (Airfare not included). Reception at the
airport and transfer to the Explorama dock. Twenty-five mile journey
down the Amazon River to Ceiba Tops where your Amazon adventure
begins. Afternoon transfer by boat to the Mazan trail where you pass
across a land bridge which marks the shortest distance between the
Amazon and Napo Rivers. Upon arrival at the Napo River, your next
launch will transfer you down the river to the 250,000 acre Amazon
Rainforest Reserve and ExplorNapo Lodge. Afternoon hike through
primary, terra firme, non-flooding rainforest including a visit to
the medicinal plant garden near the Camp. Evening excursion by open
boat along the Sucusari Stream in search of caiman and to enjoy the
night sounds and stars of the Southern sky.(B, L, D).
Day 3: Saturday - CANOPY WALKWAY
Early morning birding excursion. Morning hike to the Canopy Walkway,
a suspended bridge spanning over 500 meters (1/3 of a mile),
connected by tree platforms and reaching a height of over 35 meters
(115 feet) above the ground. Here there is time to observe a part of
the rainforest rarely seen by man but accessible without any type of
climbing skill or equipment. Afternoon boating excursion along one
of the Napo tributaries spotting for sloth, birding and having a try
at fishing for piranha.(B, L, D).
Day 4: Sunday - IQUITOS
Early morning birding by boat or foot. Morning excursion to visit
some of the local river people called "ribereņos" whose houses and
schools are seen along the river. They will be pleased to show you
their simple way of life dominated by the movements of the mighty
rivers that surround them. Early lunch and followed by your return
trip to civilization by boat on the Amazon and Napo rivers back to
Iquitos. Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight back
to Lima (airfare not included). You will stay overnight at the
hotel. (B, L).
NOTE: Due to the everchanging nature of the rainforest, day-by-day
activities are subject to change due to weather, trail or river
conditions. Bring rain gear and sunscreen as for all Explorama
Rainforest programs.
Day 5: Monday - CUSCO
Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight to Cusco (airfare
not included). Upon arrival reception at airport of Cusco and lodge
at your accommodation. In the afternoon: Cusco City Tour. This tour
includes the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and the Cathedral. The
tour moves along the Circunvalacion Road up to famous fortress of
Sacsahuaman, then to Q'enqo, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay. This tour
includes a bilingual guide. Include the Tourist ticket valid for the
entrance to many museums and ruins as well. Overnight. (B).
Day 6: Tuesday - SACRED VALLEY TOUR
You will leave at 8:30 a.m. for an excursion to the Sacred Valley of
Incas. Services included: Bus service to the market of Pisaq, Ruins
of Ollantaytambo, and the Chinchero's market. English and Spanish
speaking guide. Lunch in a typical restaurant in Urubamba. Return to
Cusco at 6:30pm.approx. Overnight. (B,L)
Day 7: Wednesday - MACHU PICCHU
Breakfast. An according hour departure to Machu Picchu. Services
included: Bus to railway station and back, round trip first class
train ticket (Vistadome) Cusco/Aguas Calientes/Cusco, bus to ruins
and back, box-lunch, complete Ruin's tour with an English and
Spanish speaking guide. Overnight at Hotel in Aguas Calientes. (B+
Box Lunch)
*Optional: For lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge instead of box-lunch,
add $30.00 to the tour price.
Day 8: Thursday - MACHU PICCHU
Morning at leisure to explore the are by your own (entrance fee and
transportation not included). In the afternoon you will take the
train to Cusco.
Upon arrival in Cusco, transfer to the hotel . Overnight(B)
Day 9: Friday - TRANSFER OUT
Transfer to the airport where you will take the flight back to Lima
(airfare not included). (B)
END OF SERVICES
INCLUDES: All hotel and lodge accommodations based on double
occupancy. All scheduled transportation. All transfers. All
scheduled excursions with English-speaking guide services. All
entrance fees. Meals as specified in the itinerary. B=Breakfast; L=Lunch;
D=Dinner.
Note : We can replace above Hotels with other one with the same
characteristics in the case that it becomes necessary for operative
and other reasonable causes.
NOT INCLUDED IN THE FEE
International and domestic airfares, airport departure taxes or visa
fees, excess baggage charges, additional nights during the trip due
to flight cancellations, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages or
bottled water, snacks, insurance of any kind, laundry, phone calls,
radio calls or messages, reconfirmation of international flights and
items of personal nature.
